Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran has publicly criticized the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) following the revelations of the Justice Hema Committee report. In contrast, veteran actors Mohanlal and Mammootty have remained silent about both the report and the sexual assault allegations against several industry figures. Prithviraj underscored his commitment to addressing these issues, stating that he was among the first to provide a statement to the Justice Hema Committee and calls for urgent actions against those found guilty. He stressed the necessity of dismantling any influential groups that may be perpetuating these problems within the industry, advocating for the grievances of affected individuals to be seriously considered.

The release of the Justice Hema Committee report has created significant upheaval in the Malayalam film industry. Filmmaker Ranjith resigned from his role as chairman of the Kerala Chalachitra Academy following sexual misconduct allegations by Bengali actress Sreelekha Mitra.
