Passionate Support: Bihar Dy CM’s Stand for Article 370 Restoration Champions Hope
New Delhi, Aug 24 (IANS) — Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary criticized the Congress party for supporting the restoration of Article 370 in Jammu & Kashmir, during a press conference on Saturday.
Choudhary highlighted the BJP’s decisive action in abrogating Article 370, referring to it as the removal of a "blot" on the country. In contrast, he accused Congress of aligning with those advocating for its reinstatement, including the National Conference (NC).
He called on the INDIA bloc to clarify its stance on this issue, questioning whether the alliance, which includes the Congress and NC, supports the restoration of Articles 370 and 35A. Choudhary noted that the NC perceives Kashmir as a separate entity and desires a distinct flag, and he challenged the bloc to declare their position on the Indian national flag.
Choudhary also criticized the NC for seeking dialogue with Pakistan, which he accused of sending terrorists to India. He labeled the NC as “anti-reservation” and pointed out the current election in Kashmir as the first to offer reservations for SCs and STs, thereby exposing Congress’ purportedly anti-reservation agenda.
Additionally, he raised concerns about national security, questioning whether Congress supports the resurgence of Line of Control (LoC) trade with Pakistan. He charged that the alliance could indicate a compromised stance on national security.
The Deputy Chief Minister concluded by emphasizing that the BJP, consistent with the visions of historical figures such as Acharya Chanakya, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, views Kashmir as an integral part of India. He affirmed that the Modi government is committed to realizing the vision of an undivided India.
Choudhary also criticized NC’s intention to rename geographical features in the region, further questioning the alliance’s loyalty to national unity.
