Newly Formed KPLA Disbanded After Members Surrender in Assam
In a significant breakthrough, a nascent group known as the KPLA has been disbanded following the voluntary surrender of three of its members to local authorities. The incident took place in the Karbi Anglong district of Assam, where the group had been attempting to establish itself since July 2024.
Assam’s Director General of Police, GP Singh, announced the development on social media. He stated, "Due to sustained police effort, 3 cadres of the said organization surrendered to the Karbi Anglong police team with 3 nos of 0.32 pistols and 2 rds of live ammunitions."
The KPLA had reportedly been targeting regions such as Langlokso, Nihanglangso, and Borpung for their extortion activities. However, their operations were cut short as law enforcement agencies swiftly took action to neutralize the threat.
This decisive intervention by Assam police signifies a major step in maintaining law and order in the region, effectively dismantling the emerging organization before it could entrench itself.
