Outrage Erupts: Kolkata Doctor Rape Case Intensifies as BJP’s Locket Chatterjee Faces Summons for Exposing Victim’s Identity

The police have also imposed Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, banning gatherings and protests around the medical college for seven days starting August 18. This move follows protests and strikes by the medical community and vandalism at the hospital by a mob, which heightened the need for security measures.

Chief Advisor to the Chief Minister, Alapan Bandyopadhyay, announced these initiatives aimed at enhancing women’s safety, while protests continue across the state. The measures also extend to hostels and other places engaging women during night shifts under a program named "Rattirer Sathi – Helpers of the Night," designed to improve safety at workplaces.
