Breaking News: Emotional Turn as JMM’s Champai Soren Reaches Delhi Amid Rumors of Joining BJP
Former Jharkhand CM Champai Soren Denies BJP Switch Amidst Speculation
Champai Soren, the former Chief Minister of Jharkhand and leader of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), has refuted claims about joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Despite rumors, Soren insists his recent visit to Delhi was solely to meet his daughter and address personal matters. He stated, "We are where we are right now," dismissing the speculations.
Rumors suggested that along with Soren, six JMM MLAs—Chamra Linda, Dashrath Gagrai, Sameer Mohanty, Sukhram Uraon, Ramdas Soren, and Sanjeev Sardar—were also considering a move to the BJP. However, Soren denied any meetings with BJP leaders, including West Bengal’s Suvendu Adhikari.
Adding to the intrigue, former JMM MLA Lobin Hembrom, recently disqualified under the anti-defection law, claimed Soren was in touch with BJP leaders, opposing the ‘parivarvaad’ or dynasty politics within JMM. Hembrom hinted at the possibility of other JMM officials like Badal Patralekh also joining BJP. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s recent praise of Soren’s short tenure as Chief Minister further fueled these rumors.
Soren, who stepped down as Chief Minister after Hemant Soren was granted bail in a money laundering case, expressed dissatisfaction over his removal. Sources reveal he felt "insulted" about his dismissal. However, he maintains his loyalty to the Soren family and denies any move to BJP, stating, "I am here only."
The narrative of Soren’s potential shift continues to unfold, leaving the political landscape in Jharkhand tense and uncertain.
