Outraged Bajali Residents Rally for Urgent Safety Measures After Tragic Accident in Assam
Residents of Rihabari in Assam’s Bajali district staged protests demanding the installation of a speed breaker within a week. The demonstration, which saw the participation of the entire village, was sparked by a tragic accident on August 15 that resulted in the death of a local resident, who was hit by a four-wheeler.
The villagers allege that the absence of a speed breaker is the primary cause of frequent accidents in the area. Despite multiple complaints to the authorities, no action has been taken thus far. According to locals, four people have already lost their lives in similar accidents due to the lack of a speed breaker in Rihabari.
Speaking to the media, residents emphasized the urgency of their demand, calling on the authorities to address the issue immediately. One distressed woman highlighted the recent fatality and noted that seven months ago, officials had inspected the area but failed to install a speed breaker.
The villagers have issued a warning that they will continue to block the road until their demands are met, signaling their determination to ensure the safety of their community.
