Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kohima, Kumar Ramnikant, has released a traffic advisory addressing the upcoming road repair and maintenance work scheduled for Box Cutting Road in Kohima from August 10th to 14th, 2024. During this period, significant vehicular traffic restrictions will be in place. The advisory specifies that there will be a complete road closure for all vehicular traffic on August 10th and 11th. From August 12th to 14th, the road will partially reopen, allowing limited downward vehicular traffic.
Motorists are advised to use an alternative route via Ladies Mile Road and the NHAK-TCP gate during the complete road closure days.
In related news, DC Ramnikant has also issued a cautionary advisory regarding National Highway 29 (NH-29) along the Kohima-Dimapur Road. The stretch has been severely affected by incessant rainfall, which has caused landslips and landslides. Key impacted areas include Dzuchie, Dzudza (GREF Temple), and Kezanu, Jotsoma (Old KMC dumping site). Efforts are currently underway to clear debris and repair the road.
The public is urged to exercise caution while traveling through these affected areas until the road restoration works are completed.
