Urgent Directive: Tripura CM Amplifies Border Surveillance to Protect Citizens Amidst Bangladesh Crisis
Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha announced on Tuesday that the state government is stepping up surveillance along the international border with Bangladesh in response to the current situation in the neighboring country. Dr. Saha, who also holds the position of State Home Minister, underscored the critical need to prevent unauthorized border crossings into Tripura.
At a press briefing, Dr. Saha detailed his constant evaluation of the circumstances in Bangladesh and confirmed that the state government is working in close coordination with central authorities. “I am in regular contact with the central government and have had discussions with the Chief Secretary, Tripura Police, Assam Rifles, Border Security Force, and other security agencies. We are implementing measures following directives from the Centre to ensure the border is secure,” he stated.
Furthermore, Dr. Saha has instructed all security agencies to collaborate closely to block any unauthorized entry into the state. “We are not permitting anyone to cross into Tripura at this time,” he affirmed.
Dr. Saha also addressed recent attacks on Hindu minorities in Bangladesh, labeling them as unacceptable. He praised the efforts of some members of the Bangladeshi Muslim community who are working to protect minorities and religious sites. “It is encouraging to see many, including students, stepping forward to protect Hindu minorities and temples in Bangladesh. We are closely monitoring these developments,” he noted.
He confirmed that the central government has requested updates on the situation and reported that Tripura has not encountered any issues to date. Dr. Saha’s statements come at a time of heightened tensions and underline the state’s proactive measures to maintain border security and uphold communal harmony.
