Tragic Loss: Two Young Lives Cut Short in Heart-Wrenching Kothaguda Flyover Accident in Gachibowli
Two youths tragically lost their lives after falling from the Kothaguda flyover in Gachibowli early Sunday morning. K. Rohith (26) and Bala Prasanna (24) were riding a bike from Botanical Garden towards Hafeezpet when their vehicle collided with the flyover’s boundary wall, leading them to fall onto the road below. The incident occurred around 4 a.m. on the approach ramp, mere meters from the flyover’s main stretch. Rohith was operating the bike, while Prasanna was the pillion rider.
Following the crash, Gachibowli police registered a case under Section 106 (1) (death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and promptly informed the families of the deceased. Their bodies were transported to Osmania General Hospital for post-mortem examinations.
Both men hailed from Andhra Pradesh but resided in Hafeezpet. Rohith worked as an IT professional, whereas Prasanna had recently arrived in Hyderabad three days prior, seeking employment. A passerby reported the accident, prompting a swift police response.
Inspector Anjaneluyu of Gachibowli police detailed that the accident resulted from a high-impact collision with the boundary wall. In light of the tragedy, the police plan to urge the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to extend the boundary walls on the flyover to avert future accidents. Notably, the Cyberabad traffic police had previously highlighted the inadequate height of the boundary wall to GHMC and requested corrective measures.
This unfortunate event underscores the urgent need for infrastructural improvements on Hyderabad’s flyovers to enhance road safety.
