Urgent Warning: Stay Safe Near Shelters! Indian Embassy Alerts Citizens Amid Escalating Israel-Hezbollah Tensions
The Indian Embassy in Israel issued an advisory on Friday, urging Indian nationals in the country to “stay vigilant and adhere to safety protocols” amid escalating tensions between Israel and the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah. The advisory, posted on microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter), emphasized the importance of caution, avoiding unnecessary travel, and staying near safety shelters. The Embassy is closely monitoring the situation and liaising with Israeli authorities to ensure the safety of Indian citizens.
In case of emergencies, the Embassy has provided 24/7 helpline numbers and an email address for contact. The advisory also included a Google registration form for Indian nationals who have yet to register with the Embassy. The provided contact information includes two telephone numbers (+972-547520711 and +972-543278392) and an email (const.telaviv@mea.gov.in).
The advisory comes in the wake of increased violence in the region. On July 29, the Indian embassy in Lebanon issued a similar advisory following an incident where at least 12 children were killed in Israel due to a rocket strike. This surge in violence has been exacerbated by the recent assassinations of two senior Hamas leaders and a top Hezbollah commander, further inflaming regional tensions.
In response to the deteriorating situation, Air India has canceled its Delhi-Tel Aviv flights until August 8. Several other international airlines have also suspended flights, despite assurances from Israeli authorities that the airspace remains “absolutely safe.”
The Indian Embassy is urging all Indian nationals in Israel to stay informed and follow the guidelines issued by local authorities to ensure their safety during this volatile period.
