
Heartwarming ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ Tree-Planting Drive Blooms with Hope in Kokrajhar, Assam
The Assam Government’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ tree-planting initiative was rolled out in Kokrajhar on Thursday, August 1. The event, held in front of the Bodofa Cultural Complex, was organized by the Kokrajhar District Administration and the BTC Forest Department. Notable attendees included local MLA Lawrence Islary, who participated in the tree-planting ceremony.
Joining him were eighty ACS probationers from Bodoland Administrative Staff College, reflecting broad-based community involvement. The event also saw the presence of District Additional Deputy Commissioner Wahidul Islam, Additional Superintendent of Police Nabneeta Sarma, DFO of Hultugao Forest Division Jayanta Brahma, District Officer of SLRM Bichitra Narzari, and BTC Secretary Phami Brahma.
Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the statewide tree-planting campaign, ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’, as part of the Amrit Brikshya Andolan 2024. The launch took place at the Ministers’ Colony in Dispur, where CM Sarma planted the first sapling. Minister for Environment and Forests Chandra Mohan Patowary and several high-ranking officials attended, underscoring the initiative’s significance.
The ambitious campaign aims to plant an impressive three crore trees across Assam by August 15, aiming to bolster environmental conservation efforts in the state.
