Urgent Plea for Justice: Victims Demand CM’s Intervention After Brutal Attack on Assam-Registered Vehicles in Meghalaya’s Tura
In a disturbing incident in Tura, Meghalaya, a vehicle registered in Assam was allegedly attacked by a group of miscreants. The incident occurred early on July 29 when the vehicle, owned by a young contractor from Goalpara, Assam, was parked overnight by the roadside. The miscreants shattered the vehicle’s windows and locks by hurling stones at it. The young contractor, who was visiting Tura for business purposes, reported that he was also physically assaulted without any apparent provocation.
Following the assault, the contractor approached the Tura police station to file a complaint. However, he claimed that the Meghalaya Police refused to register the case, providing various reasons for their inaction and instead advised him to leave Tura.
The situation escalated further when the same group of miscreants attempted to attack another vehicle registered in Assam right in front of the Tura police station shortly after the initial incident.
Both victims have appealed to the Chief Minister and the Director General of Police of Meghalaya, urging them to address the issue and ensure the safety of Assam residents visiting the state. The young contractor, who frequently visits Tura for work, expressed his shock and dismay at the unprovoked violence, stating that he had never encountered such hostility on previous visits.
The incident raises serious concerns about the safety of individuals from Assam traveling to Meghalaya and calls for immediate action from the authorities to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
