Tragic Murder! BJP Alleges Foul Play in Delhi UPSC Aspirant’s Death; ABVP Outraged, Defaces Mayor Shelly Oberoi’s Picture
Delhi UPSC Aspirant Tragedy Sparks Political Accusations and Protests
In a compelling turn of events, the tragic deaths of three UPSC aspirants in Delhi are igniting fierce political debate. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla has labeled the episode as "murder" rather than merely an accident, while blaming the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for "criminal negligence." The incident unfolded on Saturday when the basement of Rau’s IAS Study Circle in Old Rajender Nagar was inundated, resulting in the drowning of the students. The victims have been identified as Shreya Yadav from Uttar Pradesh, Tanya Soni from Telangana, and Nivin Dalwin from Kerala, according to ANI reports.
Poonawalla’s severe allegations claim that the AAP government has neglected the safety of Delhi’s residents, accusing them of prioritizing press conferences and political blame games over citizen welfare. "It is not just an accident, it is a murder committed by the Aam Aadmi Party. It is criminal negligence," charged Poonawalla. He also criticized Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s preoccupation with safeguarding his party from legal troubles over effectively managing the city’s infrastructure.
Amid rising tensions, members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged protests outside the residence of Delhi Mayor and AAP leader Shelly Oberoi on Sunday. Their demonstration in West Patel Nagar saw protesters defacing a picture of Oberoi, underscoring their discontent with the current administration’s oversight in managing the city’s waterlogging issues.
In a counter-accusation, Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj of AAP pointed fingers at Lt Governor VK Saxena, alleging a large-scale conspiracy against Delhi’s populace. Bharadwaj argued that despite presenting evidence of corruption in the de-silting process, no corrective action was taken. He attributed the tragedy to the inadequate removal of silt from drains and sewers, blaming officers from the Public Works Department, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, and the Irrigation and Flood Control Department for their negligence.
The incident has not only brought to light the dire consequences of infrastructural lapses but has also ignited a political storm with calls for accountability and better governance.
