Heartfelt Tribute: Dhubri Celebrates Deshbhakti Diwas, Honoring the Inspiring Legacy of Tarun Ram Phookan
Tarun Ram Phookan’s 85th death anniversary was commemorated as Deshbhakti Diwas on Sunday, owing to the efforts of the Dhubri District Administration in collaboration with the District Information & Public Relations Department, Dhubri.
The event featured Jui Das, assistant professor and head of the Assamese department at Dhubri Girls College, as the chief guest. In her speech, Das praised Tarun Ram Phookan, highlighting his significant contributions to Assamese patriotism and his influential role in shaping modern Assam. She encouraged young people to emulate Phookan’s patriotic spirit and dedication to the nation.
The event saw the participation of officials from the District Information & Public Relations Department, other distinguished guests, school teachers, and students. It was led by Bonti Talukdar, Additional Deputy Commissioner, and Bably Das, Assistant Commissioner.
An essay competition was also organized in honor of Tarun Ram Phookan’s 85th death anniversary, engaging students from various schools and colleges in the Dhubri district. Prizes and certificates were awarded to the top performers in several categories. In Category A, Momina Khatun claimed first place, with Anuksha Sarkar and Jannatul Firdusi Ahmed securing second and third places, respectively. In Category B, Sujane Tanaz Sheikh won first place, followed by Himakshi Sarma and Anusha Ahmed. In Category C, Nasim Ali emerged as the winner, with Mamoni Roy and Purbasri Sarkar taking second and third places.
This event not only honored the legacy of Tarun Ram Phookan but also fostered a sense of patriotism and engagement among the youth in Dhubri district. By celebrating Deshbhakti Diwas, the district administration aims to inspire future generations to contribute to the nation’s growth and uphold the principles exemplified by Phookan.
