Karnataka Shocked: No Top-20 Achievers in Re-Revised NEET 2024 Results
Following a Supreme Court directive, the National Testing Agency (NTA) released the re-revised NEET-2024 results on Friday, July 26. Notably, no student from Karnataka secured a position in the top 20. Padmanabh Menon emerged as the state topper, achieving an All India Rank (AIR) of 21 with 716 marks out of 720, equivalent to a 99.9990143 percentile. In the initial June 4 results, Menon had attained an AIR of 74 with a 99.996614 percentile.
Previously, three Karnataka students—Kalyan V. from Sri Chaitanya Techno School, Sam Shreyas Joseph from Narayana Co-Kaveri, and Arjun Kishore from Expert PU College—had secured a perfect 720 out of 720 marks, each ranking at AIR-1. However, the re-revised results saw a shift: Kalyan V. dropped to AIR-53 with 715 marks, while Sam Shreyas Joseph and Arjun Kishore fell to AIR-64 and AIR-71, respectively, each also scoring 715 marks.
Two additional Karnataka students, Bhargava Bhat and Nandan P., managed to secure rankings within the top 100, with AIR-84 and AIR-90, respectively. Impressively, Kalyan V. has also topped four streams in CET-2024, including Veterinary, B-Pharma, Pharma-D, and B.Sc. Nursing. Nevertheless, he expressed his disappointment over the re-revised NEET results, stating, “It was unexpected that I lost five marks. But I hope to secure a seat at AIIMS, New Delhi.”
Kalyan’s father, Venkateshappa V., a software engineer, echoed this sentiment. “He put in extensive effort to achieve AIR-1. It is unfortunate that his rank dropped, but I am confident he will secure a seat at either AIIMS, New Delhi, or JIPMER, Puducherry,” he remarked.
From Karnataka, 1,55,148 students registered for NEET, with 1,50,171 appearing, and 88,887 qualifying. Compared to the June 4 results, 201 candidates lost their eligibility in the re-revised results.
Nationwide, of the 13,34,940 male candidates, 7,69,277 qualified, and among 9,98,205 female candidates, 5,46,566 qualified. For transgender candidates, 10 out of 17 qualified. This contrasts with the initial results, where 5,47,036 male and 7,69,222 female candidates had qualified.
