PM Modi to Honour Heroes with Heartfelt Tribute at Kargil War Memorial on 25th Kargil Vijay Diwas
Kargil Vijay Diwas Commemorates the Valor of Indian Soldiers
Kargil Vijay Diwas is being commemorated nationwide to honor the bravery and sacrifices of Indian soldiers during the Kargil War of 1999. This significant day marks India’s triumph over Pakistan in the conflict, culminating in the successful completion of Operation Vijay. During this operation, the Indian Armed Forces reclaimed territories in the Kargil district of Jammu and Kashmir that had been infiltrated by Pakistani soldiers and militants.
On the 25th Kargil Vijay Diwas, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will serve as the Chief Guest and will lay a wreath at the Kargil War Memorial to pay homage to the martyrs of the 1999 Kargil War. Additionally, the Prime Minister will oversee the virtual first blast of the ambitious Shinkun La Tunnel Project. This project involves a 4.1 km long twin-tube tunnel at a height of approximately 15,800 feet on the Nimu-Padum-Darcha Road. Once completed, the Shinkun La Tunnel will be the highest tunnel in the world, ensuring all-weather connectivity to Leh.
This infrastructure development is expected to significantly enhance the mobility of armed forces, while also fostering economic and social development in Ladakh.
