Heartbreaking! Karimganj Man Deceived by Fake Facebook Ad, Loses Rs 4.14 Lakh
In a troubling incident of online fraud, Sanjeev Pal, a steel pipe trader from Karimganj, has fallen victim to a deceptive Facebook advertisement, resulting in a significant financial loss. Pal responded to an ad posted by VINAYAK INDUSTRIES, purportedly based in Jaipur, Rajasthan, which advertised an enticing business opportunity.
Believing in the authenticity of the company’s offer, Pal initiated contact and subsequently struck a deal to purchase approximately 2,300 quintals of goods. Convinced of the deal’s legitimacy, he transferred Rs 4.14 lakh to the company’s bank account to finalize the transaction. VINAYAK INDUSTRIES provided a seemingly valid invoice and a transporter bill, reinforcing the perception of a legitimate business.
However, the goods never arrived, and all attempts to contact the company or the transporter proved futile, as their phones were consistently switched off. Realizing he had been duped, Pal lodged a formal complaint against VINAYAK INDUSTRIES, bringing the scam to the attention of local authorities.
The case has garnered considerable attention, prompting an investigation by authorities who are now tasked with taking appropriate action against the perpetrators. This incident highlights the growing concerns over online fraud and the need for vigilance when engaging in business transactions via social media platforms.
