Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has raised serious concerns about pervasive sand smuggling in Jharkhand, attributing moral responsibility to the state’s Chief Minister. Addressing the issue, Sarma stated, “Sand smuggling is going on across Jharkhand. I did not say who is doing it, but sand smuggling is going on across the state. Did I say anything wrong?…If something wrong happens in the state, its moral responsibility lies with the CM.”
Beyond highlighting these alleged illegal activities, Sarma expressed strong confidence in the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) chances in the upcoming Jharkhand elections. He asserted, “I have always believed since the Lok Sabha elections that the formation of a BJP Government in Jharkhand is certain…Elections will be held and a BJP CM will take oath in Jharkhand.”
Sarma’s comments reflect broader political tensions and outline the BJP’s strategy to secure governance in the state. He underscored the BJP’s commitment to establishing its “double-engine government,” a term used to describe development under simultaneous BJP rule at both state and central levels.
“We have to form our government in Jharkhand… We need to change the present government and bring in BJP’s double-engine government. We will definitely win,” Sarma declared confidently.
