Amidst Health Concerns, AAP Intimates Grave Risks for Arvind Kejriwal in Tihar Jail
In the thick of an ongoing debate surrounding Delhi Chief Minister (CM) Arvind Kejriwal’s health, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) minister Atishi has raised alarming concerns, claiming that Kejriwal faces the risk of falling into a coma, suffering a brain stroke, hemorrhage, or even death. Kejriwal, a long-term diabetic, is currently in Tihar jail following his arrest on March 21 by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a money laundering case linked to the now-defunct Delhi government’s excise policy for 2021-22.
Atishi shared a video alleging that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) aims to "permanently damage his health." She emphasized that Kejriwal’s diabetes, diagnosed 30 years ago, makes him particularly vulnerable to severe health complications, with fluctuating sugar levels posing potentially fatal risks.
Concerns over Kejriwal’s health have been compounded by his fluctuating weight. Tihar jail records indicated a slight weight loss from 65 kg on April 1 to 61.5 kg by July 14. Although AAP claimed Kejriwal lost 8.5 kg in prison, Tihar officials rectified this to a 2 kg loss. The prison authorities have assured that Kejriwal’s health is being regularly monitored by an AIIMS medical board. AAP MP Sanjay Singh confirmed the jail’s acknowledgment of Kejriwal’s unstable sugar levels and weight loss.
The health issues add a layer of urgency to AAP’s calls for Kejriwal’s release. The party has accused BJP of wielding the ED as a "political tool" to imprison Kejriwal based on false allegations. Though the Supreme Court granted Kejriwal interim bail last Friday, he remains incarcerated due to a subsequent arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on June 26, relating to alleged corruption.
As the debate over Kejriwal’s bail and health continues, AAP’s allegations against BJP intensify, shedding light on the intertwining of politics, legal battles, and personal health risks.
