Empowering Future Generations: Corruption-Free Recruitment Spurs Unprecedented Educational Surge in Assam, Says Himanta Biswa Sarma
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has commended the current BJP administration for its efforts in establishing a corruption-free, merit-based admission system in educational institutions across the state. Sarma highlighted the significant positive impact of the new recruitment system on the youth and families in Assam during a recent address.
“Today, the educational landscape in Assam has transformed. Attendance in our schools and colleges has risen, and the overall academic environment has improved,” Sarma stated. He pointed out that parents are now more likely to encourage their children to excel academically, believing that dedication and hard work can lead to government job opportunities.
Reflecting on the past, Sarma detailed the challenges of a time when corruption was rampant in job recruitment, leading to widespread skepticism toward the value of education. “Previously, when parents urged their children to study, the response was often cynical. Children questioned the value of education when jobs were secured through hefty bribes—money that many families couldn’t afford. The system favored the children of politicians, officials, and businessmen, leaving the offspring of farmers, rickshaw pullers, and daily laborers disheartened,” he explained.
Sarma proudly stated that the current administration has dismantled this corrupt system. “We have demonstrated that there is now political will in Assam to ensure jobs are awarded based on merit. This has rejuvenated the aspirations of our youth and restored faith in the power of education.”
According to the Chief Minister, this shift towards merit-based recruitment has transformed not only the educational institutions but also the mindset of Assam’s residents, providing a fair opportunity for all, irrespective of their background. The administration’s efforts to ensure transparency and fairness in job allocation have instilled a renewed sense of hope and ambition among the state’s youth, fundamentally altering the socio-educational fabric of Assam.
