Guwahati BJP MP Bijuli Kalita Medhi made her first visit to Boko after winning the Guwahati Lok Sabha seat in the general elections. On Thursday, July 11, she was warmly welcomed by local BJP leaders and party workers from the Boko and Chamria Blocks. The reception included traditional Rabha, Boro, and Garo attires, as well as symbolic gifts like the Japi, Gamucha, and Sorai.
During her speech at the felicitation program, organized by BJP Boko Block president Budheswar Rabha, MP Kalita expressed gratitude to the people of Boko for their electoral support. She assured the crowd that she would address local issues in the coming days.
Addressing the current flood situation, she commented that floods are not unique to Guwahati, drawing a comparison to Delhi’s flood woes. She highlighted ongoing efforts to install railings and sidewalks in Guwahati following the tragic death of a child in an open sewer. Kalita announced that departmental approval has been granted for these safety measures, and work is underway to close remaining open sewers to beautify Guwahati.
MP Kalita’s visit underscores her commitment to addressing local concerns and improving infrastructure, promising a more developed and safer environment for her constituents in Guwahati.
