Chaygaon Police Apprehend Man with Illicit Drugs Worth ₹6 Lakh
Chaygaon Police, under the leadership of Officer-in-Charge Bhaskar Malla Patowary, apprehended a man in the Gabardhan area on Tuesday. Identified as Ziarul Ali from Mahamaya Char in South Shalmara, the suspect was found in possession of a substantial quantity of illicit drugs, concealed in 14 soap boxes, weighing a total of 203 grams and carrying an estimated market value of ₹6 lakh.
The successful operation was conducted following a tip-off from Kamrup Superintendent of Police Ranjan Bhuyan. This enforcement action underscores the ongoing efforts of local authorities in curbing the drug menace in the region.
In a related incident, Assam Police marked a significant breakthrough in their anti-drug operations on September 20. Acting on reliable intelligence, police intercepted a truck in Banskandi, Cachar. The subsequent search led to the recovery of 18,000 YABA tablets and 2 kilograms of crystalline methamphetamine, valued at approximately ₹15.5 crore in the market. Two individuals were arrested at the scene in this major drug seizure.
