Shocking Discovery: Hidden Weapons Unearthed in Bishnupur Unveil a Gripping Secret
Manipur Police Uncover Major Weapons Cache in Bishnupur District
Imphal: In a significant operation, Manipur police have unearthed a substantial cache of hidden weapons, including rocket-propelled grenades, in the remote Machin-Mano hillock area of Bishnupur district.
Acting on intelligence reports about suspicious activities in the region, the Bishnupur district police launched a search operation on Monday morning. During the sweep, authorities discovered an abandoned camp that housed a considerable stockpile of arms and ammunition.
The recovered arsenal includes a Self-Loading Rifle (SLR) with a magazine, Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG) shells, RPG shell chargers, High Explosive-36 hand grenades, Chinese hand grenade, and a wireless handset marked "BAOFENG, UV-5R.”
While no arrests have been made so far, police suspect that the cache might be linked to the ongoing communal violence in Manipur. The seized weapons and equipment have been taken into police custody for further examination and legal proceedings.
Authorities continue to investigate the origins and intended use of the discovered arsenal, with hopes of tracing the individuals or groups responsible for the stockpile.
