Heartbreaking Discovery: Decomposed Body of Missing Man Recovered from Tripura Flood Debris
The decomposed body of a 43-year-old man has been recovered in South Tripura district over a month after he went missing during a devastating flood, according to state Cooperative Minister Suklacharan Noatia. The deceased, identified as Birmoni Tripura from Kayarampra, was last seen repairing a drain amid heavy rainfall on August 21. Tragically, four of his family members were buried in landslides on the same day.
The unprecedented floods have claimed 36 lives and left over 1.25 lakh people homeless, officials report. “After several attempts over many days, the body of Birmoni was recovered from the debris on Sunday,” Noatia informed reporters. The state government will provide Rs 4 lakh to his next of kin, while the central government will contribute an additional Rs 2 lakh in compensation.
The crisis has forced 3,873 people to seek refuge in 67 relief camps, according to BJP chief spokesperson Subrata Chakraborty. “The government has been making all-out efforts to help the affected people,” he added.
