In a continuation of a violent series of explosions across Lebanon, three individuals were killed today when hand-held radios detonated in various locations throughout the country’s south and in Beirut’s southern suburbs. According to media reports, a significant increase in ambulance activity was observed in Beirut.
Yesterday, over a thousand people, including Hezbollah fighters and medics, were injured in similar blasts involving pagers. Lebanese Health Minister Firass Abiad announced that the death toll from these incidents has climbed to 12, including two children.
Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi has accused Israel of pushing West Asia toward a regional conflict through these dangerous escalations on multiple fronts.
The flare-up in violence follows the escalation of the Gaza conflict last October, with Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah engaged in the most intense cross-border warfare seen in years.
