PM Modi Inaugurates Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project Phase II
On September 16, Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially inaugurated the 20.8 km long Phase II of the Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project. Accompanied by Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Modi traveled by the metro and interacted with young commuters. The Prime Minister shared the experience on social media, highlighting his journey with enthusiastic youngsters. This latest extension of the metro connects from APMC to Mahatma Mandir with a branch line from GNLU to GIFT City, enhancing the North-South Corridor.
Phase II features several new segments, including a 21 km corridor linking Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Motera to Gandhinagar Sector 1. It comprises an 8 km stretch with eight stations and a 15.4 km viaduct, adding six new stations: GNLU, Raysan, Randesan, Dholakuva Circle, Infocity, and Sector 1. Additionally, a 5.4 km link to GIFT City includes stations at PDEU and GIFT City. The Rs 3,284 crore project aims to provide a swift, safe, and eco-friendly commute for daily travelers between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi visited Vavol in Gandhinagar to interact with beneficiaries of the ‘PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana’. During his visit to Shalin-2 Society, he reviewed rooftop solar panel installations, part of a Rs 75,021 crore government initiative launched earlier this year.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister is poised to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for multiple development projects worth over Rs 8,000 crore in Ahmedabad. These include railway line expansions, the construction of iconic roads, flyover bridges, and significant advancements in the energy sector including a 30 MW solar power system and a 35 MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at the Kutch Lignite Thermal Power Station. Modi will also launch the Single Window IT System (SWITS) for streamlining financial services and sanction over 30,000 homes under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana.
Stay tuned for more updates as these projects progress.
