Urgent Alert: Govt Conducts Critical ADR Exams Amid Internet Shutdown and Tight Security in Guwahati
Guwahati: On Sunday, the Assam Direct Recruitment Examination (ADRE) for Grade III positions was conducted smoothly in 2,305 centres across the state, without any incidents. This large-scale exam saw over 11.23 lakh eligible candidates, including 429 centres marked ‘sensitive’ due to historical malpractices, participate. To ensure the integrity of the exam, mobile internet services were suspended for three-and-a-half hours, and tight security measures were implemented, including strict candidate screening and limited allowed items. CCTV surveillance and comprehensive videography were also utilized, alongside a 100-meter prohibition zone around exam centers to prevent gatherings.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his gratitude on social media post-exam, appreciating the efforts of all involved in the smooth execution of this significant task and reiterating the government’s commitment to transparency in recruitment processes.
Candidates began arriving at centres early in the morning, with gates opening an hour prior to the 10:30 am start. The suspension of mobile internet services was well-publicized, citing past issues of cheating facilitated by digital means. Additionally, the northeast frontier railways operated 12 special trains and adjusted the routes of four regular trains to accommodate exam-takers.
The SSC has similarly been vigilant, warning of stern measures against exam malpractice, following cheating allegations in its Clerk Exam 2024. Meanwhile, the State Level Recruitment Commission (SLRC), Assam, has published admit cards for the ADRE Grade 3 exam, set for September 15, 2024.
This structured and secure conduct of ADRE underscores Assam’s commitment to fair and transparent recruitment processes.
