Heart-Wrenching Denial: Kolkata Rape and Murder Accused Pleads Innocence Amidst Outrage
Kolkata Rape and Murder Case: Main Suspect Denies Charges in Polygraph Test
KOLKATA, Sep 7: Sanjay Roy, the primary suspect in the notorious Kolkata rape and murder case, has firmly denied the allegations against him during a polygraph test administered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). According to Roy, he fled RG Kar Medical College and Hospital upon discovering the dead body, contradicting his initial confession.
Roy, who serves as a civic volunteer with the Kolkata Police, was initially apprehended due to CCTV footage and physical evidence, including a Bluetooth headset found at the crime scene. Nevertheless, during the polygraph test, Roy claimed that he was framed and insisted he departed the scene only after stumbling upon the victim’s body.
The crime, which has drawn significant public outrage, involves the rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor at the college. The incident was captured on camera, showing Roy fleeing the seminar hall where the crime occurred. Despite the polygraph test casting doubts on his truthfulness, Roy upholds his innocence. His attorney has asserted that Roy was wrongfully implicated and criticized certain aspects of the polygraph examination.
The investigation, now nearing its completion, has eliminated the hypothesis of gang involvement, zeroing in solely on Roy. Forensic DNA evidence is currently under further analysis. The CBI is preparing to file formal charges, drawing from over 100 witness statements and extensive forensic data.
As the legal proceedings continue, this case remains a focal point of public attention, evoking widespread concern and calls for justice. The resolution of this high-profile investigation will be closely observed nationwide.
