Ram Temple Donation Theft Alarms Trust Chief — Don’t Politicise
Lucknow, July 6, 2026: Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust President Mahant Nritya Gopal Das on Monday expressed deep anguish over the alleged theft of donations from the Ram Temple, demanded the strictest punishment for those responsible and urged that the matter not be politicised. He said he had full faith that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath would ensure justice for the breach linked to the faith of millions of Hindus.
In a statement, Mahant Das said, “I am deeply distressed by the theft of donations from the temple of Shri Ramlalla Sarkar. Whoever has committed this sin must face the severest possible punishment. I have full faith in the esteemed Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, and the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, that they will ensure punishment for anyone involved in this sinful act.” He added: “This is a matter concerning the faith of crores of Hindus, and I urge that no one should engage in politics over this for personal gain.”
The Trust has convened a crucial meeting for 3 p.m. on July 6, 2026, at Mani Ram Das Chhavni in Ayodhya Dham, Uttar Pradesh, to consider several urgent items, including the resignations submitted by General Secretary Champat Rai and Trustee Dr. Anil Mishra. The meeting was called by Treasurer Swami Govind Dev Giri with the approval of President Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, who is currently hospitalised.
The agenda, as outlined in the Treasurer’s notice, includes consideration of the resignations, discussion of the Special Investigation Team’s (SIT) interim report on the counting of funds from the Trust’s donation boxes, deliberation on arrangements for future temple management, and review and approval of unaudited financial statements for the 2025-26 year, including income-expenditure and balance sheet details.
Earlier, on June 27, the Treasurer formally confirmed that the resignations of Champat Rai and Anil Mishra had been received. Under the Trust deed, such resignations can be accepted only if supported by a two-thirds majority of Trust members. It remains unclear how many members will attend the July 6 meeting and whether the required quorum or majority will be achieved to take final decisions.
The Trust’s call for urgent deliberation and its appeal to members to attend highlight the sensitivity of the allegations and the potential implications for temple management and donor confidence. IANS
