ISI-Linked Terror Cell Busted in Delhi: 7 Arrested, Arms Seized
New Delhi, June 16, 2026: Delhi Police said on June 16 that it has dismantled an alleged terror and organised-crime network with purported links to Pakistan and arrested seven people accused of smuggling weapons and narcotics into the Delhi-NCR region at the direction of handlers across the border. The arrests followed intelligence inputs and a targeted operation that uncovered arms, drugs and digital evidence, officials said.
Police identified the Pakistan-based coordinators as Shahzad Bhatti and his associate Ajmal Gujjar, and said local operatives were recruited to procure and distribute illegal arms, ammunition and narcotics. Investigators allege the network used social media to lure young recruits with promises of quick money and a glamorous criminal lifestyle before involving them in trafficking.
According to the police, intelligence inputs received in May 2026 indicated Bhatti and Gujjar were planning major criminal and terror-related activities in Delhi-NCR through local contacts. Acting on that information, officers laid a trap that led to the arrest of Mohit, also known as Yogi, a key member from whom illegal weapons and digital material allegedly linking him to Pakistan-based handlers were seized.
Further interrogation and follow-up investigations exposed a wider chain of operatives. Police said the syndicate had conducted reconnaissance of locations across Delhi, Ghaziabad and adjoining areas, raising concerns about potential criminal or terror-related plans. They also alleged consignments of weapons and narcotics were being dropped by drones in Punjab and then moved through the network into Delhi-NCR.
Items recovered during the operation included five pistols, 41 live cartridges, seven mobile phones and an SUV. Police added that several of the arrested have prior criminal records and face cases ranging from murder and attempted murder to robbery, violations of the Arms Act and offences under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
