Mizoram’s Groundbreaking New-Age Tech Skills Centre in Aizawl
Mizoram School Education Minister Vanlalthlana on May 29 inaugurated the Northeast region’s first-ever New Age Tech Skills Centre at the Government Comprehensive Model School in Aizawl, officials said. The centre was set up under the corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative of Bharat Forge Limited, with technical support from SimuSoft Technologies and collaboration from the School Education Department.
According to officials, the facility will train students in advanced and emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, the Internet of Things (IoT), 3D printing, computer-aided design (CAD), CNC simulation and drone technology. The programme is designed to give learners hands-on experience with tools and processes commonly used in industry.
The initiative aims to equip students with industry-oriented technical skills and to expose them to new technologies at an early stage, officials said. By combining practical workshops and technology-driven learning with classroom instruction, the centre seeks to make technical education more relevant to current workplace needs.
Project organisers noted that the centre aligns with the National Education Policy 2020 by integrating experiential learning and skill development into school education. Support from Bharat Forge’s CSR arm and SimuSoft’s technical partnership were cited as critical to delivering the specialised equipment and training modules.
Officials said the new centre will serve as a model for technology-enabled schooling in the region and as a platform to prepare students for further technical study or vocational pathways.
