Shocking Hoax Bomb Threat Causes Major Delay for Vizag-Delhi Flight
Hoax Bomb Threat Delays AI 471 Flight from Vizag to New Delhi
A hoax bomb threat on Air India flight AI 471 from New Delhi to Vizag caused significant delays on Tuesday night, impacting the return flight to New Delhi. AI 471, which typically departs from New Delhi at 5.55 p.m. and arrives in Vizag at 8.10 p.m., was subject to a bomb scare shortly after takeoff.
The call, allegedly received in New Delhi, indicated that a bomb was planted on the aircraft. Upon its timely arrival in Vizag, the police and bomb squad conducted a comprehensive search, ultimately revealing the threat to be a false alarm. Authorities suspect the prank was orchestrated by a disgruntled passenger who missed the flight.
As a result, passengers bound for New Delhi experienced delays. The flight eventually departed and was expected to land in the capital around 1.15 a.m., approximately two hours behind schedule.
Airport Director S. Raja Reddy confirmed the incident was a hoax, noting that the prankster’s call triggered security protocols. The information was relayed to Delhi police, who then alerted both security officials and the CISF team in Vizag, ensuring all necessary checks were completed before the flight was cleared for departure.
