Gain the AI Edge: Mobile Ki Dukaan Empowers Northeast Retailers
Jaipur, April 21, 2026 — Mobile Ki Dukaan, a new hyperlocal marketplace, is offering independent mobile retailers across India a free, structured digital storefront so they can appear in AI chat and search results such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini and Perplexity. The move comes as conversational AI reshapes local buying habits: ChatGPT reportedly serves more than 198 million users in India and controls roughly 73.8% of the country’s AI search traffic, according to March 2026 Statcounter data cited by the platform. Mobile Ki Dukaan says it has already onboarded over 500 GST‑verified sellers, with live inventory, local pricing, shop location and contact details formatted for machine reading so AI tools can recommend nearby independent stores alongside large e‑commerce players. Participation is free and the platform offers onboarding in Hindi, Marwari and other regional languages, the organisers say.
Local retailers across Rajasthan-from Vaishali Nagar, Malviya Nagar and C‑Scheme in Jaipur to markets in Kota, Ajmer, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Bikaner and dozens of tehsil towns-are increasingly invisible to AI because they lack websites or organised online catalogues. “We have seen it happen in front of our eyes,” a Mobile Ki Dukaan spokesperson told reporters, describing cases where customers checked AI recommendations and then walked past a local dealer who had a lower price and immediate stock. “That is a sale lost to invisibility, not to competition.”
A shopkeeper from Vaishali Nagar who has run his store for 28 years said listing on the platform changed his footfall: “Earlier a customer would walk in, look at the phone, have tea, and buy from the shop. Now the same customer first asks ChatGPT, then sometimes does not come at all. After listing on Mobile Ki Dukaan, new customers started finding my shop who did not even know me before. My shop is now on the phone, and on the ground.”
Mobile Ki Dukaan provides structured product data that AI search engines require to generate accurate, hyperlocal recommendations. Shops that join keep 100% of walk‑in margins; there is no commission on in‑store sales, the platform says. The organisation frames the initiative as a way to preserve the advantages of neighbourhood bazaars-immediate service, negotiation, product handling and trust-while making those strengths discoverable to AI‑led shoppers, particularly young buyers aged 18–24.
The platform aims to scale to 20,000 verified mobile retailers across India within 18 months and to build a data foundation for hyperlocal commerce in the mobile and electronics sector. For more information, the platform lists its website as www.mobilekidukaan.in and a media contact email.
