Empowering Change: Assam Official’s Heartfelt Visits to Safai Karmachari Colonies, Hospitals, and Institutions
Baijnath Basfore, Chairperson of the Assam State Commission for Safai Karmacharis, has initiated an extensive five-day tour of the districts of Kokrajhar, Chirang, Bongaigaon, and Goalpara. His mission aims to understand and address the issues faced by the hardworking Safai Karmachari community.
Starting his tour in Kokrajhar, Basfore dedicated his time to meeting and interacting with the Safai Karmachari residents. He visited their colony in Kokrajhar Town, attentively listening to their grievances, challenges, and hopes. His commitment was evident as he made various stops across important local institutions, including the Kokrajhar Civil Hospital, Kokrajhar Medical College and Hospital, the Kokrajhar Municipality Board, the Central Institute of Technology (CIT), and NTPC Salakati. These visits were focused on evaluating the conditions and facilities available to Safai Karmacharis within these institutions.
In his dialogue with the media, Basfore highlighted the directive from Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The Chief Minister had instructed him to closely examine the issues concerning the Safai Karmacharis, emphasizing key areas such as fair wages, provident fund (PF), and employee state insurance (ESI). Basfore assured that the Assam government is proactive in enhancing the livelihoods of these essential workers.
This concerted effort by the Chairperson of the Assam State Commission for Safai Karmacharis marks a pivotal step towards recognizing and addressing the needs of this critical workforce.
