Empowering Bengal: Amit Shah Unveils BJP’s Vision with Promises of Rs 3,000 for Women and a Unified Code!
Union Home Minister Amit Shah unveiled the BJP’s election manifesto for West Bengal on Friday, pledging significant financial support for women and the swift implementation of a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) if the party secures victory in the upcoming elections. Shah promised a monthly financial assistance of Rs 3,000 for mothers, emphasizing that this initiative aims to uplift every section of society in the state.
During the manifesto launch in Kolkata, Shah drew inspiration from Bengal’s rich cultural heritage, citing Rabindranath Tagore’s poem “Where the Mind is Without Fear” to frame the BJP’s aspirations for the region. He characterized the past 15 years under Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee as a “period of darkness,” claiming that many citizens now live in fear and are eager for change.
“This manifesto serves as a beacon of hope for all of Bengal,” Shah remarked, highlighting the plans to address the needs of farmers and ordinary citizens alike. He noted that the manifesto outlines a comprehensive roadmap for a “developed India” as envisioned by Prime Minister Modi, aiming to foster a sense of safety and reassurance among the populace.
In terms of policy, the manifesto stresses a stringent approach against illegal infiltration and cow smuggling, with Shah reaffirming a “zero tolerance” stance. He highlighted that several BJP-ruled states have already adopted the UCC, promising its implementation in Bengal within six months if the party wins.
Shah also assured that if the BJP is elected, all government employees and pensioners would receive Dearness Allowance (DA), and the 7th Pay Commission’s recommendations will be enacted within 45 days of forming the government. He further pledged that the monthly assistance for mothers would be delivered directly to their bank accounts between the 1st and 5th of each month, as part of a broader commitment to implement various welfare schemes, including Ayushman Bharat.
Positioning the manifesto as a “pledge of trust,” Shah stated that the BJP aims to revive Bengal’s cultural identity and create an environment where people can live with dignity and peace. He set an ambitious timeline to symbolize this vision, linking it to the Bengali New Year (Poila Baisakh) on April 15 and the birth anniversary of Tagore on May 9-a period he described as a renewed push to reclaim Bengal’s lost glory.
A significant part of the manifesto is the promise to establish a commission led by a retired Supreme Court judge to investigate all cases of political violence in the state, irrespective of which party was affected. Shah asserted the need for accountability, vowing to ensure that every case is thoroughly investigated. In addition, he announced plans to release three White Papers addressing key issues of corruption, political violence, and the restoration of law and order.
With the Bengal Assembly polls scheduled for April 23 and 29, Shah’s manifesto aims to resonate with voters who are seeking a transformative change in governance and society. As the BJP positions itself as the main opposition in the state, they strive to bring forth a message of hope and renewal for all citizens of Bengal.
This move signals the BJP’s commitment to actively engage with constituents and address their concerns, presenting a clear vision for a prosperous and secure West Bengal.
