Manik Saha Demands Tipra Motha Be Reduced to Zero Before ADC Polls
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on April 6 said rising public support for the Bharatiya Janata Party reflects a “country first” approach and urged voters to reject rival parties he accused of putting “the individual or the party before the nation” ahead of the TTAADC polls. He made the remarks at an election rally in Dasda Bazar, North Tripura.
Addressing the crowd, Saha said people were gravitating toward the BJP because of its development agenda and contrasted the party’s priorities with those of the Tipra Motha Party and the Communist Party of India (Marxist). “Our policy is first the country, then the party and finally the individual,” he said.
Saha called on voters to decisively oppose Tipra Motha in the autonomous district council elections, saying, “In this TTAADC election, Tipra Motha must be reduced to zero.” He also alleged there was no difference in policy between the Tipra Motha Party and the All India Trinamool Congress of West Bengal.
Highlighting the BJP’s growth since its founding in 1980, Saha noted the party had expanded from “only two MPs” to leading the central government for three consecutive terms under Narendra Modi. He said the upcoming ADC polls were significant for the party, which he added is contesting 28 seats for the first time, and predicted the election would “create history” in the tribal council.
Saha criticised the CPI(M), alleging corruption during its long rule and saying those who once started counting from 20 assembly seats were now at zero after nearly 35 years in power. He further alleged incidents of violence linked to the campaign, claiming attacks had been reported in about 40 locations and that a minister and a party candidate were recently attacked and injured.
The chief minister appealed for support for BJP candidate Shailendra Nath in the Dasda-Kanchanpur constituency, calling him a “decent person” who has raised concerns about displaced Bengalis; Saha said he had raised the issue with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and hoped for a “permanent solution” soon. Several local leaders, including MLA Jadab Lal Nath and North District BJP president Kajal Kumar Das, attended the rally.
