Assam CM Plans Development-Focused Cabinet Meeting in Lakhimpur, Announces New Office in Dibrugarh
In a Facebook Live session held on Saturday night, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma outlined significant upcoming plans aimed at state development. Sarma revealed that a Cabinet meeting is set for September 4 in Lakhimpur, with a distinct emphasis on local development. He emphasized that ministers would not dine at government expense during this meeting, opting instead to visit homes of BJP workers if necessary.
On September 5, the Chief Minister is scheduled to visit Dibrugarh for the inauguration of a new Chief Minister’s office. This office will operate four days each month and aims to serve the regions of North and Upper Assam effectively, Sarma announced.
Highlighting legislative progress, Sarma underscored the significance of two bills passed during the Autumn session of the Assam Legislative Assembly, labeling them as historic. He also mentioned upcoming legislative initiatives for the next Assembly session, which will include new bills targeting "love jihad" and the protection of tribal land in Assam.
The Chief Minister further used the platform to warn residents about health risks associated with urea-contaminated fish, urging caution.
Engaging, committed to development, and focused on effective governance, Sarma’s announcements highlight a proactive approach towards addressing regional needs and legislative advancement in Assam.
