Drukair Resumes Bangkok Flights; Launches Singapore via Guwahati
Drukair will resume Paro–Guwahati–Bangkok flights and add a weekly frequency on its Paro–Guwahati–Singapore service beginning in April 2026, the airline announced, restoring a regional link and expanding connections between Bhutan, India’s Northeast and Southeast Asia. The Bangkok service will operate twice weekly, while the Singapore route will increase to three flights a week in response to growing passenger demand.
The Paro–Guwahati–Bangkok reinstatement is meant to support tourism, medical travel, education and business exchanges across the region by reconnecting Bhutan with a major international gateway. Bangkok’s wide connectivity is expected to make onward travel easier for travellers from Bhutan and India’s Northeast and to boost visitor flows in both directions.
Drukair said the additional Singapore frequency reflects sustained demand for travel to one of Asia’s principal aviation and financial hubs, which offers onward connections across the Asia‑Pacific, Europe, Australia and North America. The airline framed the changes as part of a broader network expansion strategy to better link Bhutan with key overseas markets.
Commenting on the moves, Drukair Chief Executive Officer Tandi Wangchuk said the extra Singapore service and the revival of the Bangkok route “form part of the airline’s broader network expansion strategy.” He added that the expansion aligns with the Act East Policy and is expected to support travel demand connected to the proposed Gelephu Mindfulness City in southern Bhutan, near Assam.
Drukair provided the weekly schedules: the Bangkok service will depart Paro via Guwahati on Thursdays and Sundays, with return flights on Fridays and Mondays. The Singapore route will operate from Paro on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, with returns on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
Founded in 1981 and based at Paro International Airport, Drukair currently links Bhutan with 10 international destinations across South Asia, Southeast Asia and the Middle East — including India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Thailand, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates — and serves three domestic destinations within Bhutan, as well as operating helicopter services.
