Empowering Women’s Bike Rally in Doomdooma for Int’l Women’s Day
A Women’s Bike Rally was held at Doomdooma Town Field in Assam’s Tinsukia district on Saturday to mark International Women’s Day and promote awareness of women’s participation and empowerment. The event was jointly organised by Ride All Queens Assam Motorcycle Club and WARIORS (Women Awareness and Rural Invigorate Organisation Cum Radiant Society), Doomdooma branch, with the aim of encouraging women’s leadership and inspiring confidence across the community.
The rally was ceremonially flagged off by Nuzhat Nasreen, co‑district commissioner of Doomdooma, who applauded the initiative and urged women to move forward with confidence and determination in every sphere of life. Dozens of women riders took part, riding through the town as a visible symbol of freedom, strength and the spirit of breaking barriers.
After the ride, organisers held a felicitation programme to honour several distinguished women from Assam for their contributions to social and civic life. Those present and recognised included Kanta Bhattacharjee, chairperson of Doomdooma; Indian athlete Bina Borkotoky; social worker Kumuduni Das; Mala Deka, recognised as a Warrior of Tinsukia district; Miranda Deka, secretary of the WARIORS Doomdooma branch; Stifa Lokhonary, founder of Ride All Queens Assam Motorcycle Club; and Rumi Medhi, an NCC officer and member of the Warrior Doomdooma branch. Speakers highlighted the honourees’ journeys, stressing perseverance, leadership and the wider role women play in building a more inclusive society.
Organisers expressed gratitude to local supporters whose cooperation helped make the celebration successful, extending special thanks to Star Cement, Royal Enfield (SDO) and Borah Nursing and Maternity Home. They also acknowledged Ashi Singh, founder of the Delhi‑based initiative Girls Don’t Dress For Boys, for promoting confidence and individuality through a movement‑driven clothing brand, and Binojyoti Das, founder of UNNATI and secretary of the International Sociological Association Research Committee TG3, for his encouragement and work in promoting social awareness.
The event closed with a renewed commitment from organisers and participants to continue creating platforms that inspire women to dream fearlessly, lead boldly and contribute meaningfully to a stronger, more equal and progressive Assam.
