Empower Your Voice: Join the Guru Spandana Adalat to Resolve Grievances for Mangaluru’s Dedicated Government Teachers!
The Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI) in Karnataka has initiated ‘Guru Spandana adalats’ to address the concerns of government teachers, following directives from the state government. This program, held on the first and third Saturdays of each month, aims to provide a platform for educators to voice their grievances directly.
The inaugural adalat took place in Ujire on February 7, where 33 concerns from the Belthangady educational block were addressed. G.S. Shashidhara, the DDPI, reported that roughly seven issues were resolved on the spot. The next adalat is scheduled for February 21 in Mangaluru, specifically aiming to tackle grievances from teachers in the Mangaluru South and Mangaluru North blocks.
Shashidhara explained to The Hindu, “Through Guru Spandana adalats, the government intends to hear teachers at their doorstep and redress their grievances.” To minimize disruption to academic activities, the sessions will run from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Key officials, including the Block Education Officer and other representatives from the Department of School Education and Literacy, will participate to ensure a comprehensive approach to resolving issues.
Among the topics to be discussed are concerns regarding the posting of teachers as booth level officers for election duties, assignments related to non-academic work, and issues regarding salary arrears and service benefits. Shashidhara assured that grievances handled at the local level would be addressed within 15 days. More complex policy-related issues will be forwarded to the state headquarters for further action.
This initiative is designed to create a responsive environment for teachers, allowing them to focus on their primary responsibility-educating students. The Guru Spandana adalats not only serve as a direct line of communication between educators and administrative officials but also reflect the government’s commitment to improving the working conditions of teachers.
In summary, by facilitating these adalats, the Karnataka government aims to reinforce its support for teachers, ensuring their voices are heard and their issues addressed in a timely manner. As the program unfolds, it is expected to foster a more conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning across the state.
