Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla District Struck by 4.6 Magnitude Earthquake
A 4.6-magnitude earthquake jolted Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir early on Monday, officials reported. The tremor occurred at 5:35 AM, with its epicenter located in Budgam district at coordinates 33.9°N and 74.76°E. Initial data from the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) indicated that the quake struck at a depth of 10 kilometers. Fortunately, no damage reports have emerged thus far.
In addition, the National Centre for Seismology noted that another 4.6-magnitude earthquake was recorded in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands earlier the same morning. This quake happened at 3:31 AM, with its epicenter situated in the Nicobar region, also at a depth of 10 kilometers. Residents are urged to stay alert, as seismic activity in these regions can be unpredictable.
