Assam CM Lashes Out at Congress for Shocking Alliance with ‘Pro-Pakistan’ Entities
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Denounces Congress for Alleged "Pro-Pakistan" Alliances
GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has fiercely criticized the Congress party, claiming it has allied with groups he described as "pro-Pakistan". Sarma’s comments were triggered by the manifesto of the Jammu & Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), which he asserts reveals troubling alignments within Congress.
"I never imagined the Congress would compromise the unity and integrity of our nation," Sarma stated. He accused Congress of having ties with international figures like George Soros, which he claims are now exposed. "It’s alarming that Congress is now aligning with an organization supportive of Pakistan. This undermines the sacrifices made by our armed forces," he added.
Sarma further cautioned that when a principal opposition party collaborates with forces that he deems "fundamentally anti-India", the very essence of democracy is endangered. "Whether in power or opposition, it’s crucial that we all stand together in our commitment to the nation’s integrity and support for our armed forces," he emphasized.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also lambasted Congress on August 23 for its alliance with the National Conference (NC) in the run-up to the Jammu and Kashmir elections. The BJP pointed out that NC’s manifesto includes pledges to reinstate Articles 370 and 35A, provisions that were annulled by the BJP-led central government.
Overall, Sarma’s denunciation and the BJP’s criticism appear to be part of a broader effort to question Congress’s political alliances and commitments, casting them as a threat to national unity and security.
