Unlock Success: Exclusive Govt Teacher Training for HSLC/HS 2026!
Guwahati, Jan 24: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Saturday that only government school teachers will serve as invigilators for the 2026 HSLC and Higher Secondary Final Examinations in Assam. This decision was made during an orientation program for Centre Superintendents and Assistant Superintendents held at Khanapara. Sarma emphasized that the examinations would take place exclusively in government schools to ensure fairness and accountability.
“This time, examinations will not be held in private schools. If anything goes wrong, the government has no authority over private teachers. Hence, we have decided to rely entirely on government teachers,” he stated. The Chief Minister reassured the public that there would be sufficient manpower for invigilation and other examination responsibilities.
“In recent days, around 10,000 teachers have been recruited, and by February, another 5,000 are expected to be appointed. We will have more than enough teachers, with some districts possibly having a surplus,” Sarma noted. He further explained that this measure is intended to strengthen administrative control and mitigate the risks of lapses during the examination process.
He also mentioned that the exams would coincide with the election period, stating, “We may not be able to provide regular updates due to the electoral process. Therefore, we have requested the centre in-charges to ensure the smooth execution of the examinations.”
Highlighting the successful management of previous examinations, Sarma pointed out that trained government teachers oversaw the ADRE exams, and the School Education Board is implementing detailed training programs for officials involved in examination duties. “The board has established proper training and clear guidelines for conducting examinations. We focused today on emphasizing the importance of fulfilling responsibilities sincerely,” he added.
The Chief Minister briefly addressed his recent trip to Davos, Switzerland, indicating that discussions regarding investment proposals would occur after Republic Day. “After Republic Day, I will provide details about the developments in Davos and the investors interested in Assam. We expect many investors to visit the state, and we plan to host a program in February,” Sarma mentioned, noting that Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) will be signed in Assam.
The orientation program concluded with the state government reaffirming its commitment to conducting free, fair, and transparent board examinations, placing the onus of responsibility squarely on the centre superintendents and assistant superintendents.
