Explosives Detected at Badarpur Railway Station Ahead of Republic Day
In a significant security alert ahead of Republic Day celebrations, authorities recovered a large consignment of explosive materials at Badarpur Railway Station in Assam’s Sribhumi district. This incident has prompted increased vigilance throughout the railway network. Officials confirmed that one individual has been detained in connection with the seizure.
The explosive materials were discovered by the Government Railway Police (GRP) during a routine security check on Platform No. 1 at Badarpur Railway Station. GRP personnel, following standard protocols, conducted a thorough search of a young man who was acting suspiciously within the station, which led to the discovery of the explosives.
The detained individual, identified as Abdul Rahim, resides in the Nilambazar police station area of Sribhumi district. Upon searching him, officials found approximately 10,000 explosive detonators in his possession, raising serious concerns about potential misuse in the lead-up to Republic Day.
Security agencies have initiated a comprehensive investigation to determine the source and intended destination of the seized detonators, as well as any possible connections to a larger network involved in the illegal transportation of explosives.
In response to the seizure, security measures have been significantly heightened at railway stations and other sensitive locations throughout the region. Authorities have indicated that their coordination with intelligence agencies has been bolstered to ensure public safety and to eliminate any potential threats.
