GRAP 3 Lifted Amid Rising AQI Levels: Discover New Restrictions Now!
In a significant update regarding air quality in the national capital, authorities have lifted the GRAP 3 restrictions due to a notable decrease in the Air Quality Index (AQI). After days of severe pollution, Delhi’s air quality showed a slight improvement, with the 24-hour average AQI recorded at 378 on Tuesday. This welcome change came after the AQI had exceeded the 400 mark for three consecutive days, which led to the implementation of stricter measures. While GRAP-4 restrictions have been lifted, other pollution control measures remain in place.
As of Tuesday evening, 29 monitoring stations in the city reported “very poor” air quality, five stations indicated “severe,” and another four were categorized as “poor.” The most affected area was Wazirpur, which recorded the highest AQI at 414, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board’s Sameer app.
According to classifications established by the CPCB, an AQI between 0 and 50 is considered “good,” 51 to 100 is “satisfactory,” 101 to 200 is “moderate,” 201 to 300 is “poor,” 301 to 400 is “very poor,” and 401 to 500 is classified as “severe.” Despite the recent improvements, the capital’s air quality has only marginally shifted from the prior severe conditions, which had lasted for three days, ending on Tuesday with an average AQI of 395. However, pollution levels continue to be troubling across various monitoring stations.
