Uttar Pradesh Electoral Roll Draft: Key Changes You Need to Know!
The Election Commission of India has unveiled the draft voter list for Uttar Pradesh following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). During a press conference held in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh’s state electoral officer, Navdeep Rinva, announced that the draft voter list includes the names of 12 crore 55 lakh 56 thousand 25 voters. He noted that 81.30 percent of the individuals on the existing voter list successfully filled out their forms to register for the new draft list. The prior voter list contained a total of 15 crore 44 lakh 30 thousand 92 names.
However, a significant number of voters-2 crore 89 lakh-were not included in the new draft list, representing 18.70 percent of the previous list. Rinva revealed that 46.23 lakh voters, equivalent to 2.99 percent, were found to be deceased during the review process. Additionally, the names of 2 crore 17 lakh voters were not located by the Booth Level Officers (BLOs), which accounts for 14.04 percent of the prior list. Furthermore, 25.47 lakh voters were found to have their names listed in multiple locations, constituting 1.65 percent of the existing voter list.
The window for receiving claims and objections has been established from January 6 to February 6, 2026. During this period, from January 6 to February 27, decisions regarding these claims and objections will be addressed.
The final electoral roll for Uttar Pradesh will be published on March 6, 2026. Following this publication, citizens will have an additional month to submit any claims or objections to the list.
