Mother Charged for Providing False Information in SIR Survey in Rampur
Police in Rampur district have charged a woman with providing false information about her two sons in voter enumeration forms for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Noor Jahan is alleged to have signed official documents on behalf of her sons, Amir Khan and Danish Khan, who have been living abroad for an extended period.
The police investigation revealed that both Amir and Danish were not present in the country. They have also been included in the case for their suspected involvement in misrepresenting their residency status on the election forms. According to Circle Officer Jitendra Kumar, they are facing charges under sections 237 (false declaration) and 318 (cheating) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), as well as violations of the Representation of the People Act. As of now, no arrests have been made in this matter.
The complaint was filed by Dinesh Kumar, a supervisor overseeing the revision process. During a verification of the voter forms submitted by Booth Level Officer (BLO) Nitin Agarwal, Kumar discovered that the signatures on Amir and Danish’s forms were those of their mother rather than their own.
Further investigation showed that the two have not lived at their registered address in Jwala Nagar for an extended time; they are currently residing in Kuwait and other countries. Despite their prolonged absence, Jahan is accused of filling out and submitting their enumeration forms to the BLO.
