A 19-year-old student in Jammu, who was allegedly preparing for the NEET exam, has been arrested while plotting a terrorist attack. The individual, identified as Mohammad Sajid from Reasi, received instructions from a terrorist network based in Pakistan. The Jammu and Kashmir Police uncovered his activities during a search operation initiated after recent bombings in Delhi.
While posing as a typical student living in Bhatindi, Sajid was found with incriminating chats and voice messages on his phone, indicating plans for a significant attack. Police had established a checkpoint on Bhatindi Sunjwan Road when he attempted to flee but was apprehended. An examination of his mobile revealed a detailed conspiracy, including suspicious communications with his Pakistani handler.
Among the evidence found were voice messages, technical details related to bomb-making, and conversations on a messaging app that suggested plans for planting explosives. Evidence also pointed to his frequent changes of mobile devices and SIM cards, raising suspicions further.
Local reports indicated that Sajid engaged in late-night calls, often whispering and switching phones, suggesting he was part of a larger network. Authorities have deployed a technical team to investigate his contacts and potential accomplices.
The Trikuta Nagar police station has charged him under Section 113(3) of the Indian Penal Code. The investigation has expanded to explore potential links between Sajid and the bombings in Delhi. Authorities have revealed that he was preparing for a suicide attack, similar to the tactics used in the recent attacks.
