The engagement of cricketer Smriti Mandhana to composer Palash Muchhal has been clouded by speculation after the wedding was postponed. The internet has been rife with rumors, particularly surrounding Mary D’Costa, who many suspect may be linked to the delay in the couple’s nuptials. Recently, screenshots allegedly featuring flirty conversations between D’Costa and Muchhal circulated on social media, sparking widespread chatter.
In response to the growing rumors, D’Costa took to Instagram to clarify her stance, asserting she never met Muchhal and that their contact lasted just a month. She also refuted claims suggesting she was a choreographer involved in wedding preparations. “The exchanges between us happened between April 29th and May 30th, 2025. I want to make it abundantly clear that I never met him and was not involved with him in any way. I exposed him back in July, but he wasn’t widely known then, so it went largely unnoticed,” she wrote in her Instagram note.
The rumors intensified when Smriti Mandhana deleted all wedding-related posts from her Instagram account, which led to further speculation about the couple’s relationship. The wedding was initially slated for November 23 in Sangli, Maharashtra, but was delayed after Mandhana’s father was hospitalized due to health issues.
D’Costa also emphasized her non-involvement in the wedding. “I am not the choreographer, and I am not the person he cheated with,” she reiterated, aiming to clarify her identity amidst the confusion.
As the wedding festivities began in Sangli, including the sangeet and haldi ceremonies, news soon spread that the wedding was postponed due to Mandhana’s father’s hospitalization. Compounding the situation, Muchhal was subsequently admitted to a Mumbai hospital for stress and exhaustion. The situation was exacerbated by Mandhana’s removal of all images from her engagement and pre-wedding events on social media, prompting further speculation.
In the midst of these developments, Palash Muchhal’s cousin, Neeti Tak, defended him on Instagram, urging people not to judge based solely on hearsay. She stated, “Palash is going through a critical condition today; you should not judge him without knowing the truth. Technology has outpaced humanity, and people should refrain from passing judgment amidst rumors… please pray for him.”
