Tragic Oversight: School Negligence Linked to Fourth Grader’s Death in Jaipur
A chilling CCTV footage that surfaced earlier this month has sent shockwaves across the nation. The video captured a nine-year-old student falling from a balcony at the Neerja Modi School, which has since been under intense scrutiny. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a notice to the school, requiring a response within 30 days.
The family of the deceased girl claims that she had been subjected to regular bullying by her classmates. Despite repeated complaints, no action was taken. On the day of the incident, she reportedly voiced her concerns, but teachers failed to address them adequately. The family believes this lack of support led their daughter to choose the tragic path of suicide, provoking widespread outrage.
Following the girl’s death on November 3, a two-member CBSE investigation team arrived at the scene. It was revealed that there were significant lapses in safety and monitoring within the school. Even when instances of bullying were reported, the response from the school staff was reported to be inadequate.
In the CCTV footage, the fourth-grade girl is seen sitting on the balcony railing before falling. After the incident, school authorities rushed her to a hospital, but she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Meanwhile, police investigating the incident discovered no signs of blood at the scene, suggesting that evidence may have been cleaned up. The family has since filed a formal complaint against the school, calling for an investigation into the role of the teachers and staff in this tragic incident.
